Toshiba Introduces New M4G Group Microcontrollers Based on Arm Cortex-M4 for High-speed Data Processing in TXZ+ Family Advanced Series

Shanghai, China, September 8, 2021 – Toshiba Electronic components and Storage Corporation (“Toshiba”) today announced that it has started mass production of 20 new devices for high-speed data processing in the M4G group. The M4G group is a new member of the TXZ+TM family of advanced series and is manufactured on a 40nm process. These products feature an Arm Cortex-M4 core with FPU running at up to 200MHz, with 2MB of code flash and 32KB of data flash internally, with 100,000 write cycle endurance, and a wealth of interface and communication options. Therefore, M4G group devices are ideal for office equipment, building and factory automation applications.

The microcontrollers in the M4G group are configured with enhanced communication functions, supporting Quad/Octal SPI, audio interface (I2S) and external bus interfaces in addition to UART, FUART, TSPI and I2C. In addition, these devices have a built-in 3-cell DMAC and bus matrix structure, which greatly improves communication throughput compared to conventional products.

The microcontroller is equipped with a high-speed, high-precision 12-bit analog/digital converter, and supports up to 24 analog-to-digital conversion input channels. They can independently set the sample and hold time, which is convenient for the device to support a variety of sensors.

These devices provide self-diagnostics for ROM, RAM, ADC, and clocks, helping customers pass IEC60730 Class B functional safety certification. These new devices not only achieve low current consumption and high functionality, but also maintain good compatibility with the existing TXZTM series M4G (1) group of devices.
